Company History
Beginning as Audioarts Engineering in 1974, the company manufactured
audio consoles for recording studios and sound touring companies under
the Wheatstone trademark, and audio processing (limiters, equalizers,
crossovers, etc.) under its own name. The company incorporated in
1981 as Wheatstone Corporation in the state of Connecticut, and entered
the broadcast market. Targeting the high-end console market was
compatible with the quality standards previously set, and the
corporation quickly established a reputation for quality equipment at
fair prices. It has built broadcast consoles since 1981.
Growth caused the company to seek new quarters in 1986, and Wheatstone
moved to Syracuse, NY. This move allowed the company to utilize
the large electronics industry workforce in that city. The
company continued to expand its product line, moving into the
television market, as well as downward into the small radio
market.
In 1998 Wheatstone relocated to its state of the art facility in New
Bern, NC. The turn key operation has a workforce of over 100 employees.
Wheatstone presently manufactures radio on-air and production consoles
targeted at all ranges of that market, as well as television live-air
and production.
In 2005 the company decided to return to its early roots in signal
processing with the launch of the award winning Vorsis line of signal
processors.
Wheatstone's philosophy continues to be exemplary audio quality in a
product that is a good value for the price. The importance and
value of the people involved with the equipment is stressed, whether it
is an employee or a client. The company continues to develop new
products in response to market needs, as well as adding and improving
its present line. Wheatstone is a growing, dynamic international company that
is financially solid; its success is a tribute to its philosophy.
